Joseph Coupal - Friday, March 22, 2013

The first day of spring has come and gone, but it is still cold and many towns in Massachusetts are still covered in snow. If you had been  thinking about adding a fireplace insert to your masonry fireplace in order to improve your home heating efficiency, you may realize that it is still a good time. It seems like each year winter gets a few weeks longer. Fireplace inserts can help you heat your home more efficiently and effectively for less.

Fireplace inserts can make your home heating more efficient, are environmentally friendly, and put more heat into your living area. Wood burning fireplace inserts transform your inefficient masonry fireplace into an efficient, heat source and provide heat to your home even if there is no power. All fireplace inserts are especially designed for your existing fireplace.

We always talk about the increased efficiency of a wood burning fireplace insert. This is because an insert burns wood better and cleaner giving you more heat from each log than an open fireplace. They also allow less warm air to escape through the chimney, letting more heat into your living space.

What is a Wood Burning Fireplace Insert?

Joseph Coupal - Friday, December 28, 2012

A fireplace insert is a firebox designed to fit into an existing masonry fireplace. They are designed to generate and circulate heat around the house. An efficient fireplace insert provides warmth to a large area of your house.

How does it work?

Once the fireplace inserts are installed in an existing fireplace, the fire in the box warms up the metal walls around it and generates heat into the room. The glass doors covering the  fireplace not only keeps the heat in but also ensures the efficient burning of  the wood. This lets you get the most of the heat for the least cost possible. Also, many wood burning fireplace inserts come with a blower and vents ensuring that the heat is efficiently distributed around the room.

Homeowners with a Stove Or Insert Used Very Little Heat This Winter

Joseph Coupal - Thursday, February 16, 2012

With the mild winter we have had in Massachusetts, many feel like Spring is right around the corner. But, even so, there are still plenty of reasons to buy a stove or fireplace insert.  Temperatures were lower this winter, but you still need to heat your home. Have you noticed, you probably have not used much less heat despite the fact that we have had very little snow.

However, those who purchased pellet and wood burning fireplaces, stoves or inserts in the last few years didn’t use their heat at all, or used it very little. It may be warmer outside, but your house still needs heat. The newer stoves and inserts are so energy efficient, that many of our clients didn’t even turn on their heat this winter; the fire was enough. They saved thousands of dollars on their heating bills.

It may have been a mild winter, but in Massachusetts we know we are not going to get two of these winters in a row. Contact Fireplace Showcase for information on the right stove or insert for your home.
