Our Contractor Sales Representative will develop new and maintain existing professional contractor/builder relationships. The sales representative proactively provides profitable sales growth, increases sales to current and new accounts, as well as attends to the short term needs of other active projects. A key objective is to cultivate a customer base through service excellence and to build relationships with professionals in the industry. Active communication with potential clients and customers is a must.
Previous hearth experience is not required, however, some construction/trades experience is mandatory. We will provide the necessary training and assist you in obtaining industry licenses in order to excel at your job.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and grow relationships and sales to prospective accounts within our service area utilizing effective time management using permit data, cold calling, job site visits, referrals, etc.
- Create and maintain a strategic marketing plan for the assigned territory and accounts; contact prospective customers to explain features of services, costs and advantages.
- Responds quickly to customer needs with complete and accurate information.
- Actively participate in sales initiative programs and effectively manage accounts to increase sales and communications with accounts.
- Maintain a customer contact file including prospects with current names, phone numbers, email addresses and dates of client interaction.
- Work with the operations team to provide information on materials, labor, and installation requirements to complete a job.
- Assists with credit issues in order to safeguard our financial interests in any given project.
- Create quotes with all required material selections and labor to present to customers explaining lead times and installation requirements.
- Writes order and schedule delivery of services.
- Participates in all required training assignments and trade show attendance.
- Stay up-to-date on all products offerings, new products and processes by completing on-line training and attending training seminars; become an expert of our products.
- Supports other co-workers when necessary to provide store sales and outstanding customer service.
Required Qualifications:
- An ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients and customers. Strong negotiation abilities and customer service presentation skills.
- Excellent computer skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks using problem-solving skills.
- Have a good driving record with a valid license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
- Work flexible hours (including nights and weekends).
- Working understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, company specific software, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with CRM (Customer Resource Management) systems.
- Sales analyst experience and firm understanding of sales performance metrics.
- Previous experience in business to business sales or sales coordination.
- Previous experience in the building products industry.
- Knowledge of evaluating placement of hearth systems considering venting, clearances, BTU power and ambience desired for particular uses is helpful.
- Experience calling on architects, designers, builders and developers to promote our products and services.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Management or Marketing; 1 - 2 years related experience and/or training in the building trades industry

Salary:
Salary and commission structure commensurate with hearth product knowledge and sales experience.
