Get Your Chimney Ready For the Fall and Winter

You probably have not thought too much about your chimney this summer, and why should you. But as the fall approaches, you need to be sure that your chimney is safe to use in a month or so.

Not only can your fireplace and chimney can be a major source of cold air leaks in winter, it is the one of the most important parts of your fireplace too. Your chimney liner, flue and chimney cap need to be checked before winter.

Often in the spring and summer your chimney becomes home to animals or birds. You want to be sure those critters are no longer calling your chimney home before you light the fire. Also too, you need to be sure your damper is fully operational.

There is nothing worse than looking forward to a cozy warm fire, and instead suffering from a smoke filled home. This is the perfect time of year for a chimney sweep.
