Green Egg Grill: It’s Roots Go Back 3000 Years

2 July 2021

Anything that lasts 3000 years must be pretty good, wouldn’t you say? Did you know that the original design of the Big Green Egg Grill goes back to ancient China? The Japanese adopted it, and called it “kamado,” which means oven, stove, heater, or fireplace. In the years following World War II, thousands of Americans in the military “discovered” the strange cooker and brought it home to the United States. It delighted everyone who used it and tasted the food. Up until then, the only grills available for outdoor cooking were the metal charcoal and gas grills. The additional juiciness and flavor that this “new” cooker gave to foods amazed everyone that sampled its cooking.

The Big Green Egg Grill is crafted with heavy gauge metal, superior hinge design, no-slip bands, a monumentally effective draft door, and a heavy porcelain coated grill. A permanent non-toxic porcelain glaze is bonded to the ceramic. It will not fade or discolor. It is easily cleaned. In all, there have been thirty-four significant changes to the new Big Green Egg. The unquenched thirst for perfection is the reason you can own the most effective grilling machine on the plant.

We are not surprised that many of you out there know this is the ultimate grilling and smoking machine, but we are somewhat surprised to find that many of you don’t know that they come in multipole sizes. The smallest Big Green Egg Mini Grill provides a cooking area of 79 square inches and will get it done for two chicken breasts, two pork chops, and a steak. Now, get a load of what the Big Green Egg 2XL grill will do for you:

  • 35-40 burgers
  • 14-16 whole chickens
  • 18-20 steaks
  • 20 mouth-watering racks of rib vertically
  • 1 perfectly crisp suckling pig
